Pharmexcil, PITC signs MoU for essential medicine access for Philippines

Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council (PHARMEXCIL), a body set by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Department of Commerce, Government of India has signed its first MOU with Philippines International Trading Corporation (PITC), a trading and marketing arm of Philippine Government under the office of President, principally tasked with making quality essential medicines accessible, available and affordable for the masses of the Filipino people.

As per the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between PHARMEXCIL and PITC, these organizations would closely work together for fulfilling the mutual objectives and Pitc shall communicate to Pharmexcil their requirment of medicines for co-ordination, which have been registered in Philippines.

It also covers the following clauses:
- Pharmexcil shall act as a nodal agency for interfacing with the government bodies in India on behalf of Pitc for effective and smooth co-ordination.
- Pharmexcil shall assist Pitc in co-ordination of visits of Filipino medical doctors and other major stakeholders to manufacturing plants in India.
- Pitc's technical officials will be given training at national institute of education and research (NIPER) and other government agencies who are involved in such activities.
- Facilitate closer interaction between medical practioners of both the countries by pharmexcil and Pitc.
- Closer interaction with drug registration authorities in Philippines.
- Promoting the image of Indian pharmaceutical industry in Philippines - assistance assured by Pitc to pharmexcil.
